Celebrity Jewelry

Some of you, like myself, might have thought that the cocktail ring was just a dying trend, soon to be phased out like banana clips and saddle shoes. But such is not the case! In fact, cocktail rings are more popular than ever and have been seen decorating the digits of celebrities near and far! In fact, the latest trends for spring all involve bling. So by all means let's all "bling into spring," with big, sparkly baubles!

The fun part about cocktail rings is that they are a very versatile piece. Whether you are a pretty-in-pink Paris Hilton type, or an urban-chic diva like Alicia Keyes, cocktail rings can be worn for practically every style you're hoping to achieve. For you glamour girls out there, cocktail rings come in glitzy metallics with big, Swarovski Crystals. For the boho-chic chick you can scourge the streets for cocktail rings with large, natural stones. Sometimes you can see the quintessential boho-chic donning the cocktail ring in earthy gemstones like amber or jade. Perhaps you are a punk-rocker girl who shines best in florescent colors, suspenders and Chuck Taylor's, then snap up a plastic cocktail ring bedazzled with rhinestones.

The cocktail ring can also be quite versatile in price. I have seen them in lower-end retail shops for as inexpensive as $4, while a creative designer piece can range anywhere from $80-500, depending upon the designer of course. Also don't be afraid to peruse your local vintage shops, where you're sure to find antique cocktail rings with beautiful filigree inlays and unique designs.

Either way, you can't go wrong with the cocktail ring. It can be worn with an outfit as simple as jeans and a t-shirt, or with a matching cocktail dress (how appropriate)! It has been worn by the cast members of Desperate Housewives, Paris Hilton, Heidi Klum, and Nicole Richie. So keep your eyes open ladies, and shop around!

Hawaiian Jewelry

Getting a bit of celebrity style for her wardrobe is something every woman aims for. Most women spend countless hours watching awards shows – not to see who wins – but to check the latest fashion trends. Says Mr.Yoshi of MyHawaiianJewelry.com, “We often get customers who want us to create Hawaiian jewelry that reflects what various celebrities wore at different Awards functions. It’s actually a great way to get some classy Hawaiian jewelry at affordable rates. We work hard to adapt the celebrity look and yet retain a Hawaiian flavor to the jewelry. The combination almost always results in stunning and unique pieces!”

As seen by the trends followed at the 2006 Golden Globes and 77th Academy Awards, earrings are currently the most popular piece of jewelry favored by the stars. From chandeliers and diamond drops to studs and some outrageously funky pieces, they were all there. Here are some of the best designs in jewelry worn by celebrity stars to the different Awards functions and how the styles can be adapted Hawaiian style.

• Reese Witherspoon’s triple drop diamond earrings at the 2006 Golden Globes have to be the most coveted piece of jewelry at the Awards. Now most women cannot afford triple globe diamond earrings that possibly cost six figures. However, despair not! Mr.Yoshi of MyHawaiianJewelry.com says women can easily cop Reese’s gorgeous style by choosing to buy triple drop earrings made with Tahitian pearls instead of diamonds. The look is elegant, chic and absolutely stunning and yet the cost a fraction of the original.

• Ziyi Zihng’s of ‘Memoirs of a Geisha’ fame wore feminine and graceful long drop earrings at the 2006 Golden Globes. These are also a rage and can easily be created using black Tahitian pearls. They are perfect for petite women or to showoff stunning shoulders in a strapless dress. Black pearls with sparkling diamonds are a great look for a night of partying in Hawaii.

• Christel Khalil from ‘The Young and the Restless’ and was nominated for an Emmy in 2004 for her role as Lily Winters. Christel loves wearing flowers and would in fact be a perfect model for Hawaiian jewelry. Hawaiian jewelry uses many flower motifs like plumerias, hibiscus and orchids. Christel’s playful and colorful flower necklaces could actually be inspired by Hawaiian jewelry!

• Mischa Barton’s pearl danglers featured in the November 2005 issue of OK magazine are simply to die for. Long, elegant diamond earrings that end in a pearl drop. Hawaiian Tahitian pearls pairs with long braided platinum earrings are the perfect option to steal this celebrity look.

Chandelier earrings and long, drop earrings are definitely the latest trends in jewelry being worn by the stars. And Hawaiian Tahitian pearl jewelry is the easiest and most economical way for the regular hardworking woman to add some celebrity bling to her jewelry collection!

Fashion And Celebrity - An Important Criteria For Celebrities

Who is your favorite movie star or television star? Have you ever wondered what their personal life was like? If you have, you're definitely not alone. It seems millions of us are interested in knowing the latest news or gossip about today's most popular stars. In addition to who is dating who, a lot of attention is also placed on celebrity fashions. Many people, particularly teenagers, wish that they could dress and look like one of their favorite celebrities. While this feeling is quite common, it also leaves many others questioning why.

When it comes to explaining the celebrity fashion phenomenon it is difficult to come up with a single answer as to why it is so popular. Different individuals like to look and dress like celebrities for different reasons. In essence though, there is a sense of idealism about celebrities, that they are living a life the rest of us could only dream of. Celebrities are like our alter-ego; we wish we could be just as beautiful and popular and it seems if we have what they have, we are closer to achieving our dream.

There is a downside to being so popular and well-known though. Many celebrities cannot leave their homes with out being recognised or followed by paparazzi everywhere they go. This seems to be the price of fame. However, there are many "everyday" individuals who wish that they had their own fan following or were as popular as their favourite star. Although dressing a certain way or carrying a certain handbag isn't necessarily guaranteed to make you more popular, some people, both men and women, will go to great lengths to be seen in the latest celebrity fashion trends.

In recent years, celebrites have become very well-known for their fashion choices. Indeed some celebrities seem to be famous for not much more than that! Award shows have become all about the fashion and every star who walks the red carpet is asked "Who are you wearing?" It is considered a major coup to have your designs worn by today's hottest star. And amazingly, cheap copies of the gowns worn at these shows are available to buy within 24 hours of the show being aired.

Finding celebrity gossip and information is becoming easier and easier. You can flip on the television and watch the latest celebrity news program or glance at the cover of a gossip magazine. But by far the biggest source of celebrity news and gossip is the internet and there are thousands of sites dedicated to exactly that purpose.

Although some might view the celebrity fashion phenomenon as an unhealthy obsession, there is actually really nothing wrong with keeping up with the latest in celebrity fashions. What you need to remember though is that just because it looks good on a celebrity, it doesn't necessarily mean that the same thing will look good on you. While as a teenager you can get away with wearing practically anything, if you are in your 20s, 30s and beyond and still blindly following the latest fashion trend regardless of whether it suits your body shape, you might want to reconsider your fashion habits.

Also, do you really want to be seen wearing something that is instantly recognisable as being a certain brand and that a lot of other people will also be wearing? Having 'style' is about far more than just your clothes and it is important to dress in a way that truly suits not only your body but also your lifestyle and career.

Price is another issue. Many celebrities have unlimited financial resources so the cost of clothing and fashion accessories isn't an issue for them, but it may for you. Of course you can dress like a celebrity if you want to, but you need to remember that celebrity fashions change regularly. There is point going broke trying to afford the "hottest" trend that may only last for a few weeks.

In short, while the celebrity fashion phenomenon won't be over anytime soon, you should approach with caution. Fame and fortune don't necessarily equal good taste, so always choose clothes and accessories that are flattering for your body and appropriate for your lifestyle.

Celebrity News And Gossip By People

Americans, and indeed many people around the world, are hooked on celebrity news and gossip. Our media centered world feeds this obsession. By all accounts, this Hollywood star worship continues to grow.

We can discern three reasons for this phenomenon:

1) Identity-- Here an individual identifies with a particular celebrity. This is the image and personality he or she would like to be in the imagination. Even the meek and downtrodden can dream of being Bruce Willis or Sylvester Stallone defeating the bad guys in high style. How many coming of age baby boomers wished they were Elvis, a Beatle--or Ann Margaret?

2) Diversion-- Psychologists know that a depressed individual will become less so when he or she can focus on some outer experience, any neutral or pleasant experience that breaks the obsession with self. Although most celebrity seekers are not depressed, this plays into the celebrity centered life. It's pleasurable for the individual to see images of very attractive and well known stars and it's a break from day-to-day routine activities.

3) Esteem Build-Up-- We've all done it even if we know it's not our best moment. We feel momentarily good about a celebrity's messy and very public life, especially for a multi million dollar earner with many adoring fans. These public humiliations make us feel that perhaps our lives are more successful than we take credit for. We may not make millions of dollars or appear on the big screen, but at least most of us have not engaged in drunken brawls, entered luxury re-hab for the fourth time or driven a car with a baby on our lap!

Backgound

Hollywood's influence has been felt in American culture for decades. Movie fan magazines began in 1911 and prospered through the decades with names like Photoplay and Modern Screen leading the pack. By the late 1940ss and 1950s, America's growing wealth spurred adolescents and young adults to buy and read these magazines in even large numbers. Magazines of this era included Photoplay, Modern Screen, Silver Screen, Movie Fan, Movie Story, Screen Album, Screen Stars, and Screen Stories. Features were typically lightweight and often centered around shopping dilemmas for hounded stars or stories from the set of a new movie. The slick color photos were really the centerpieces of these magazines.

By the 1960s, specialty magazines such as Screen Legends and Film and TV Careers featured celebrity profiles and interviews. It was in this period that many magazines began featuring more salacious material to boost circulation. That led to this era's tabloids which include the National Enquirer, the National Examiner, Star and US. Although some stories are largely fabricated, readers want to believe it and it's the writer's job to make each story sound credible. Although most celebrities decry the tabloids, their own publicists often suggest story lines to magazine editors. One fact is certain, sensational news is big business and the demand for this type of entertainment continues unabated.

Television and celebrity news are an ideal match. Sound, moving images and an enthusiastic host makes for addicting viewing. Entertainment Tonight began broadcasting in 1981 and set the benchmark for slick and fast paced half hour episodes focusing on Hollywood news with a focus on controversial star behavior. Cable TV outlets such as CNN, A&E, and even your local newscast often include celebrity centered programming. E! network owes its very existence to celebrities and their foibles. And Hollywood celebrities still make of the majority of late night shows' guest lists.

Many younger fans get their news primarily from the internet. A recent Google search brings up over 18 million hits for "celebrity news." RSS news feeds are available to bring the latest news of your favorite stars right to your desktop. Recent upstart TMZ has become an internet powerhouse. TMZ has the corporate backing of AOL and Telepictures Productions, a division of Warner Bros. The web site has garnered attention from other entertainment outlets by publishing Mel Gibson's DUI police report, showing an image of Tom Cruise and Katie Holme's daughter's birth certificate and presenting a cell phone video of Michael Richard's racial outburst at a comedy club.

The internet is a solid match for those looking for images of their favorite stars. A single site can hold many thousands of images, all cataloged by name. Web searchers can copy and paste these images for their own personal use. Popular destinations include personal blogs, My Space profiles or other social networks, and as computer desktop screen savers and wallpaper.

Is this modern day obsession with celebrity harmful? As with anything, if it interferes with conducting your daily life, it just may be. But as a leisure time activity, it's no more than a harmless and enjoyable diversion.

Bob Hairstyles

Want a little A-list inspiration for a sexy new look? Here's how celebrities are wearing their bob hairstyle!

Paris Hilton's Graduated Bob
Paris has swapped her extensions for a sweet graduated bob. This 'do has texture, gloss and sex appeal. We've always preferred Paris with shorter hair, not only does it give her a far more sophisticated look, it's also more flattering for her face shape. This graduated cut side swept bangs is hugely wearable and by sticking with her platinum blonde block color, Paris ensures she is bang on-trend. How to style it: Shape with a dryer and a vent brush, using flat iron to enhance the key sections.

Katie Holmes' Bob
The lovely Katie Holmes looks oh-so cool, calm and in control with her classic bob cut. It is the classic bob, but it is updated with a fringy perimeter. It has a very sophisticated look yet can be very casual too. It can be worn in a smooth classic style or flipped out for fun. The sides can be worn forward, framing the face or tucked behind one or both ears.

Victoria "Posh" Beckham's Pob
Sharp, funky and fresh. The cut accentuates the angle of her jaw line while the punchy platinum hue suits her skin tone. This sexy blonde crop with strands tucked behind the ear is the epitome of cool. Victoria Beckham, known for her mega-popular Pob, pretties up her look with lengthy fringe and surface layering through the crown. Petite features or a long neckline help make this style easy to wear.

Rihanna' s Inverted Bob
Singer Rihanna is just as famous as her trendy bob as she is for her music. It's an elegant cut that's sharp, clean and sophisticated.

Eva Longoria's Long Bob
If you'd like a bob but want enough length so you can pull hair back, consider Eva's hairstyle. It has less layers, so the shape is denser, fuller. To vary it, try moving the part, but beware of the precise center part because it makes full face look wider. This cut's perfect for you if your hair is fine and straight; if it's too thick it will get too bushy. Unless your face is long and narrow, this one could work for you.

Jenny McCarthy's Asymmetrical Bob
Her sleek, asymmetrical style is even shorter and more angled these days. Styled from a short, high side part, it's blown-out with a paddle brush, then flat-ironed to further smooth the hair shaft.

Celebrity dresses

celebrity dresses

Thankfully, I don’t have a lot of friends that must have the latest celebrity dresses, but I do know some people who think this is what life is all about. I’m not like that and I never have been. I guess I have always been less concerned with my clothing than most. Don’t get me wrong, I like to wear great stuff, but I like what I like, and I don’t plan my wardrobe around what someone else is wearing. Though some of these clothes that celebrities show up in are great, I don’t think many realize they don’t really choose what they wear sometimes, at least not to large events.

Some do, and some do not. When you see celebrity dresses at an event like the Oscars, you can bet at least half of them are wearing something that was not what they really wanted to wear, and would never have paid for. Celebrities wearing designer dresses has been a long tradition, and though they look great, I realize it is nothing more than an advertisement. What kills me about celebrity dresses is that most people could never afford to buy those dresses so they buy knock offs, which does not put any money in that designers pocket. You would think the designers would have picked up on this by now.

I could never pay the asking price for many of these types of celebrity dresses, but I can’t say that I would if I had the money. Why would I spend that much on one outfit when a car would be a more sane choice? The prices on these outfits and dresses are out of control, and there is no reason on earth to buy something to wear that will be worn only once or twice. Why on earth would anyone do that? I can’t fathom it, but perhaps I am just not like everyone else.

There is something else that most don’t understand about celebrity dresses. Most of those gowns worn at big events are loners or gifts. Even the celebrity did not pay that wild amount of money for the dress. Many times it is a gift for advertising purposes. This is why you always hear people covering these events ask, “What are you wearing?” If the celebrity can’t tell anyone what they are wearing, they aren’t doing their job. I would think some free advertising in return for a great dress is great, but I can’t imagine even they want to spend that much on celebrity dresses.
